Today I tried to get a little different perspective on Diva, with other animals in the same photos for more perspective. I watched her walk in comparison to the other does in the herd, and she does not appear to have too unusual of a gait. I attempted a few videos, but the quality was poor, and I am unable to post videos here.
There are several photos of Diva with her dam for comparison. I feel a lot of her narrow build comes from the blood line. She is surely not being helped by being affected.
Dixie is from shorter, stockier parents. Diva is from tall, lanky parents.
Through the last few weeks Joe and I have found ourselves spending time observing Diva just watching for signs of something wrong. So far, the only thing we really notice is that she is so narrow. By her self its somewhat noticeable, next to Dixie it is very apparent, but combined with the early life of her half-siblings from the same sire, she becomes one in a crowd. Caesar had many narrowly built offspring this year, when compared to Dixie. This is one thing that influenced our decision to use our second buck (Dixie's Sire) this year on the majority of our does.
It is hard to decide if her narrow build is caused by being a G6S side affect, or if it is truly from the family line.
Feeling along he rib cage in the last few days, Diva does have a small amount of fat deposited across her ribs, behind the elbow, just where she should have going in to the winter.
